Asparagus and Pea Casserole

3 cans asparagus spears drained

2 cans spring peas drained (Leseur’s are best)

1 can sliced water chestnuts drained

10 crushed saltine crackers

Cheese Sauce

3 tbls butter

2 tbls flour

1 ½ cups milk

2 lbs grated sharp cheddar cheese

Salt pepper

Layer asparagus, peas and water chestnuts

Layer 1 ½ cans asparagus in pyrex dish that has been sprayed with PAM

Add layer of spring peas

Place water chestnuts in rows over peas

Cover with cheese sauce

Sprinkle 5 crushed saltine crackers over cheese sauce

Repeat asparagus, pea, water chestnut, cheese sauce and cracker layer

Cover with grated cheese and sprinkle with paprika
